We get asked this question constantly here at my online travel agency and the answer is pretty simple. We specialise in arranging all tours, reef cruises and Cairns Accommodation , nevertheless as a scuba crazed individual myself, I tend to look after Scuba Diving in Cairns and Cairns Learn to Dive bookings. I nearly always leave the annoying hotel accommodation and car hire bookings to the other staff.
If you have spare time and money I extremely advise you to do the five day course. You are only going to learn to dive once in your life, so why worry about a few extra dollars.
It’s sort of like doing a course and dive trip united.
With a four day course you’ll do four dives, which is the very minimum requirement to pass your dive certificate. They will all be “learning dives”.
A five day course will mostly give you 9 dives. Now the first 4 are learning dives but for the next five dives you are a certified scuba diver. One of these usually is also a night dive. Another advantage is that the dives will be with the other students from your course who have the same skill levels as you.
So the first dive trip you do after completing your course you will have already done five solo scubadives and be that little bit more skilled and confident.
Also the cost per dive is the lowest.
You may even choose to upgrade your learn to dive course into a 6 day learn to dive course and get an advanced qualification`scuba divers certification, but thats the next post.
So I trust I’ve assisted all you budding Scuba Divers out in internet land.
